About Rev. Benita Weathers, M.Div., MPH

Reverend Benita Weathers, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, is an ordained Associate Pastor of the Vision of Hope Baptist Church in Jenkintown, PA where her husband, Rev. Dr. Wayne M. Weathers, is the organizer and pastor. She oversees the church's ministries, teaches a weekly online Bible Study, and works with the other assistant ministers in leading the congregation in worship. The youngest daughter of the late Rev. Dr. William E. Johnson, Sr., and the late Mrs. Delores Johnson, she was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, received a BS Degree in Biology at Clark Atlanta University, an MPH Degree in Health Behavior and Health Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an M.Div. Degree with honors and a Certificate in Urban Ministry at the former Lutheran Theological Seminary (now The United Lutheran Seminary) in Philadelphia. Rev. Weathers is a 2023 Inductee in the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College, and 2024 Black Women in Ministry Trailblazer and Unsung She-Roe Award Recipient, and 2025 Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Community Partnerships Women’s History Month Honoree.

                                                                              

Skilled in enhancing the holistic health of individuals - spiritual, mental, and physical, Rev. Weathers discerned a call to use her training in divinity, public health, and biology to found Mind the Mental, Inc., a non-profit organization with a mission to equip youth and young adults to be proactive about their mental health. She also created a mental health workshop designed to remove stigma in the church and African American communities regarding mental health. She is the owner and CEO of BL Weathers LLC, a multifaceted consulting business helps clients develop what becomes them—books, dissertations, side hustles, and more. As a Curated Mind Coach, she empowers clients to move from possibility to action by riding shotgun and providing them with relief and direction on their journey toward their goals—because beautiful minds aren’t born; they’re curated. She is uniquely equipped to provide strategic and practical means by which individuals can achieve wholeness in their lives.

 

Rev. Weathers is the author of The Scream Within: Clergy Marriage and Mental Health, Journey of a Pastor’s Spouse (Glorious Works Publishing) which depicts her journey with her husband who is “at war with” clinical depression, and a Bible Study guide, Living the Word Beyond Sunday Morning: Practical Ways to Live God’s Word and Make an Impact for God’s Kingdom and accompanying Self-Work Book (Self-published). She previously hosted Living the Word Beyond Sunday Morning, the Podcast, currently hosts Mind the Mental Podcast on YouTube, and has been a featured speaker at workshops, conferences, and worship services. She is the proud mother of 3 adult children, and grandmother to two granddaughters. She is a Senior Research Project Manager at the University of Pennsylvania, a member of the Mentor Core of the R.E.A.L. Black Women in Ministry (BWIM) Thrive Initiative, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
